I had my doubts about this LEGO element. We jokingly referred to it as a SLURP (Sandy Large Ugly Rock Piece). But now, I think I need to eat some humble pie, because I love this sand castle! Model_Gal did a great job making a big ugly piece into something cool.

Lego Mini Castle
As I was looking through my RSS feeds today, this beautiful microscale castle popped up! The detail is just wonderful. Take a look at jackiebritton's Flickr set. I love how she incorporated Norbert as the dragon under the castle.

Brick Shaped Gummy Candies
Now this is just super cool! Making your own food-grade silicon mold & brick shaped gummy candies in 5 easy steps. Our LUG has a Christmas party coming up in December... I've been thinking that it would be neat to serve drinks in PaB cups, with LEGO ice (from the official LEGO ice cube tray). I like the idea of Kellog's LEGO fruit snacks, but brick shaped gummy candies would be much more cooler...
Now the one thing I don't understand, with so many great LEGO parts out there, why would you just create a mold of standard bricks... why not minifigs, castle shields, helmets, & spears? :)

Festival of the Masters
So the big news is, at the Orlando LEGO Imagination Center, they have 2009 LEGO Pirates now in stock! This is to correspond with the pirate build event at the store. Joe Meno has already posted a few pictures.
Festival of the Masters is an art show held at Downtown Disney in Orlando, Florida; it's where hundreds of artist compete and show off their artwork (for sell). There's chalk artist; Sharpie sponsors the event. For the past 6 years, the LIC has asked GFLUG to show off our "artwork". Both Joe, and I should be posting pictures from the event all weekend.
