So BrickFair is this weekend in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, we can't make it -- no vacation time and GFLUG has a little event of our own soon called Star Wars Celebration V, here in Orlando, the following weekend.
If you happen to be going to Celebration V, drop me a line or swing by our display and introduce yourself.

Brickfair & Mini MegaCon this Weekend
Joe Meno has started posting pictures to Flickr from BrickFair. Yeah! I am blown away the with the number of registered attendees to BrickFair... all I can say, it will be crazy, busy, plastic fun convention... Wish I could be there.
The reason for not being in DC this weekend? GFLUG will be displaying at (Mini) MegaCon this weekend. Can't let my mates down. :) This Mini MegaCon is a smaller show (the bigger show is in spring). It's a geek convention -- comics, artists, actors, models, wrestlers, robotics, anime, LARPers, gamers, etc. It's a fun mix of people watching & gawking -- there's lots of cos-players there as well.
I'll be posting pictures all weekend from the display -- a mix of LEGO and geekness. Oh and so will Joe. :)

BrickFair 2008
BrickFair 2008 is happening this Labor Day weekend in Tysons Corner Virginia, just outside Washington DC. BrickFair is a LEGO festival for AFOLs, open to public viewing, but only attendees are invited to play, challenge, vote and participate at every event. Check the web-site for detail on location and admission.
See pictures from BrickFair.
From what I can tell from the pictures, it looks like the hotel has replaced the lights in the ballroom & made it brighter -- that's great because it was hard to see in the ballroom back in 2006. :)

BrickShow 2008
So BrickShow 2008 has been announced. If you're following LEGO events, it's the weekend directly following BrickFair in DC. Which BrickFair is over Labor Day weekend... The events will be about 6 driving hours apart -- I should know, I've driven it a few times -- so if you live in the north-east United States, you might be able to attend both events, time and money permitting.
I'm not going to bad mouth Dan. I admire his gumption, but I think his energy can be better channeled. I can understand his "bigger picture" view -- to promote his museum -- but I think he's putting the cart before the horse in this case. I don't think I'll be going to BrickShow, but I wish him well with his venture.
