So BrickFair is this weekend in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, we can't make it -- no vacation time and GFLUG has a little event of our own soon called Star Wars Celebration V, here in Orlando, the following weekend.
If you happen to be going to Celebration V, drop me a line or swing by our display and introduce yourself.

Brickfair & Mini MegaCon this Weekend
Joe Meno has started posting pictures to Flickr from BrickFair. Yeah! I am blown away the with the number of registered attendees to BrickFair... all I can say, it will be crazy, busy, plastic fun convention... Wish I could be there.
The reason for not being in DC this weekend? GFLUG will be displaying at (Mini) MegaCon this weekend. Can't let my mates down. :) This Mini MegaCon is a smaller show (the bigger show is in spring). It's a geek convention -- comics, artists, actors, models, wrestlers, robotics, anime, LARPers, gamers, etc. It's a fun mix of people watching & gawking -- there's lots of cos-players there as well.
I'll be posting pictures all weekend from the display -- a mix of LEGO and geekness. Oh and so will Joe. :)

BrickFair 2008
BrickFair 2008 is happening this Labor Day weekend in Tysons Corner Virginia, just outside Washington DC. BrickFair is a LEGO festival for AFOLs, open to public viewing, but only attendees are invited to play, challenge, vote and participate at every event. Check the web-site for detail on location and admission.
See pictures from BrickFair.
From what I can tell from the pictures, it looks like the hotel has replaced the lights in the ballroom & made it brighter -- that's great because it was hard to see in the ballroom back in 2006. :)

Back From BrickFest'06
Let's just say I had a blast! And now I'm exhausted. It was a fun trip.
First off, let just say I'm a big fan of having all the MOCs in one area -- when the themes were in different rooms at GMU, I'd sometimes miss out on a room, because I didn't know it was down some hallway, 3rd door on the right, behind the vending machines... It was nice to compare size of structures all in the same room.
I loved the location; both in a hotel & the location of the hotel. If my wife got tired, she could walk up to the room & I could continue on festing. And the hotel was close to some good restaurants & the mall.
Honestly, if you've never been to a BrickFest before, you must take the time to go.

Going to BrickFest 2006
By the way, Erika & I will be attending BrickFest this year. We'll be flying up instead of driving from Ohio. I'm sort of in charge of Brick Bazaar this year -- silly me, I volunteered for it. Hope do see you'll there.
In the mean time, I need to figure out when the next GFLUG or GFLTC meeting is...

BrickFest 2005 Pictures Are Up
Uploaded 257 pictures last night from BrickFest 2005. Tried uploading them to BrickShelf, but had some problems... I'll try uploading the rest tonight. I took the first 50 or so pictures; the rest were taken by one of my COLTC friends -- I didn't have time to get around to all the rooms to finish taking pictures, so my co-COLTCer was nice enough to snap a few.

We're Back
Got back from BrickFest last night... Unpacked the car & headed off to bed... long day, but we had a blast this weekend.
Didn't get a chance to blog as much as I liked. Had a slow link... just too much to do & see that didn't have time. Anyway, I'll post more here later as I think of it.

Back From BrickFest 2004
Back from BrickFest 2004 and my head is still spinning. I'll post details when I get a chance. In the mean time, enjoy this pict of the Capitol Building made from several mosaic sets... and a link to the pictures I took on Flickr .

Going to Brickfest
Added picts of a windmill I'm building for BrickFest.
Erika and I are excited about going to Arlington, VA for BrickFest. We plan to spend some time at BrickFest & do a little sight seeing of Washington DC -- we both haven't been to DC in awhile. We'll be taking our new digital camera, so I should have pictures up quickly when we get back.
Note: We didn't do much sight seeing... ended up having a good time at BrickFest that we never got around to seeing DC.
