So the steam ale that Dave L. and I started brewing back on Aug. 7th is just about ready to drink. It's been a long process & I've never brewed beer before, so I'm learning a lot in the process... Dave has all the equipment needed, so that's been very nice. I don't know exactly what I'm doing yet, other than following directions. It all seems too much like Chemistry to me -- and despite my father's work/education, I never did extremely well in Chemistry. Anyway, in a few days I'll post how well the fruits of our labor tasted. :)
We've been bottling it under a label called, 'The Admiral'. This particular brew is called, 'The Admiral's Steam Powered Turbo Shed Ale'... It's a BrickNebula brew. :)

It's Almost September...
It's almost September and I haven't had a lot to blog about since I've been back from BrickFest. My LEGO club (COLTC) met last weekend, no real surprises... we met to socialize, talk about up-coming shows, and talk about general club business. There's a lot going on the last few months of this year, but I plan to sit most of it out... work has got me too busy. Plus, I want to concentrate on better organizing my LEGO collection & building a few new MOC for future displays. I'll attend club meetings, but there seems to be enough volunteers that I don't need to be involved in the next few displays.

BrickFest 2005 Pictures Are Up
Uploaded 257 pictures last night from BrickFest 2005. Tried uploading them to BrickShelf, but had some problems... I'll try uploading the rest tonight. I took the first 50 or so pictures; the rest were taken by one of my COLTC friends -- I didn't have time to get around to all the rooms to finish taking pictures, so my co-COLTCer was nice enough to snap a few.

We're Back
Got back from BrickFest last night... Unpacked the car & headed off to bed... long day, but we had a blast this weekend.
Didn't get a chance to blog as much as I liked. Had a slow link... just too much to do & see that didn't have time. Anyway, I'll post more here later as I think of it.

COLTC In Suburban News
COLTC is in the Suburban News this week. It's not a bad article... show's COLTC in a good light; not as crazy LEGO freaks. :) As you can see behind John Bucy, we're still far from being done when this picture was taken... Two months to set up & we still were setting up, right to the last minute. My favorite quote however, was this:
"She said the club is a good jumping off point because the fair organizers are hoping to get the actual LEGO company involved with the fair next year."

We Need A LEGO Store In Columbus, OH
While I'm thinking about it, I would urge the LEGO Group to consider opening a LEGO store in Columbus, Ohio. I think the closest one currently is Chicago... then next would be DC or Altanta. By the LEGO Group not opening a store in central Ohio, they are missing out on the heart of the mid-west.
I'll urge now... but later I might demand. ;)

Aah... How Cute!
Now don't get me wrong... I'm not making fun of this person't collection. I think they're very organized & nicely sorted. I think if this person goes to build something; they should be able to do it quickly.
And don't think that I'm bragging, because I'm not. But I look at collections like this on Brickshelf & think to myself, "Oh, how cute! ... I wish my collection of LEGO was that nicely organized." It's ironic (in the Atlantis Morissette kinda way), how smaller the collection is, the more organized that person's collection is vs. like me. I've got a big collection & I'm no where close to being organized... I'm lucky that when I sort parts, they make it into the right bin some days.
To be honest, I struggle to find the right sized container for most pieces. My 1x8 tiles (which fit nicely in this person's storage box) would fill something between a 1/2 to a 1/3 of a shoe box container....
More on this later...

COLTC At Ohio State Fair
COLTC will have a display in the DiSalle Center, right as you walk in the front doors. Check us out if you happen to be at the Ohio State Fair (August 3-14, 2005) this year.
