The 2005 Shrine Display
For the last few years, our Lego train club (COLTC) has been putting up a Lego display in The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. This year, I think everyone did another great job. Check out John's Brickshelf of photos from the setup.

It's Almost September...
It's almost September and I haven't had a lot to blog about since I've been back from BrickFest. My LEGO club (COLTC) met last weekend, no real surprises... we met to socialize, talk about up-coming shows, and talk about general club business. There's a lot going on the last few months of this year, but I plan to sit most of it out... work has got me too busy. Plus, I want to concentrate on better organizing my LEGO collection & building a few new MOC for future displays. I'll attend club meetings, but there seems to be enough volunteers that I don't need to be involved in the next few displays.

BrickFest 2005 Pictures Are Up
Uploaded 257 pictures last night from BrickFest 2005. Tried uploading them to BrickShelf, but had some problems... I'll try uploading the rest tonight. I took the first 50 or so pictures; the rest were taken by one of my COLTC friends -- I didn't have time to get around to all the rooms to finish taking pictures, so my co-COLTCer was nice enough to snap a few.

COLTC In Suburban News
COLTC is in the Suburban News this week. It's not a bad article... show's COLTC in a good light; not as crazy LEGO freaks. :) As you can see behind John Bucy, we're still far from being done when this picture was taken... Two months to set up & we still were setting up, right to the last minute. My favorite quote however, was this:
"She said the club is a good jumping off point because the fair organizers are hoping to get the actual LEGO company involved with the fair next year."

Mini ARC-170 Starfighter
Sorry if you're reading this on 4/8/2010. I was going back and publishing a few of my drafts blog entries. This was originally published on 5/15/2005.We had a COLTC meeting today to talk about upcoming events & meet-up... there were 17+ people there.
On the way to the meeting, the wife & I stopped off at TRU. With the purchase of a $14.99 Star Wars LEGO set, you got a free #6967 Mini ARC-170 Starfighter... I ended up with two #6967's -- I bought another #7252, Erika bought a #7250 & a #7251. I just put the #7251 together... Ugh! It's cheesy, just like the #4701 Sorting Hat from the Harry Potter line.
To be honest, I really liked the #6967... If I could find about 20 of them for about $3/each, I'd buy 'em all. Just neat little set to put together.

Dennison, Ohio TrainFest 2004
I've driven to Dennison, Ohio 2 times now & tomorrow will make 3 -- it's about a 2 hr drive from Columbus. The TrainFestival is in full swing. Seen a few people from work there... Every time I turned around, people were complimenting us on our display. I'm glad it turned out so nice, despite the rain.
Got there around noon today. We had set up the display outside underneath a tent on Thursday. From what I understand, there was a few inches of standing water under our display from the rain Friday night. We're hoping the table legs don't warp. A member had to build a rain drop splash guard to keep it from dripping on the tracks -- water dripped in between the seams of the tent. I'm glad the rain didn't keep the crowds away...
Off to get rest before tomorrow. 12+ hours to set up, hopefully 2-3 to tear down...

COLTC Display at Starbase Columbus
We (COLTC) set up a small 2 table today at Starbase Columbus. I'll link to pictures when John Bucy post them... It's a nice little shop on the north side of town (Erika & I hadn't been up that way in a long time). The owner, Bill, sells LEGO. He had a life sized Knight's Kingdom Jayko sculpture. We were there to help promote LEGO 'awareness'. :)

Train Tables
Paul, Joe, John, & I started building train tables today for the club (COLTC). We picked up the wood from Home Depot to make 18 tables. Everthing is cut; now all we need to do is assemble the tables... about another day's worth of work. We should have enough tables for the Dennison, OH train show... It was about a year ago that we made our initial tables for the club.
Erika bought me for my birthday a Toro gas powered weed-eater. I'm happy!
